Pioneer House High School is committed to serving its community and surrounding areas. It also understands the vital role it has in ensuring that groups or individuals within the school and college are not subjected to intimidation or radicalization by those wishing to unduly, or illegally, influence them.
The school and college accepts admissions from all those entitled to an education under British law, including pupils of all faiths or none. It follows the policies outlined by its governing body regarding equal opportunities, which guarantee that there will be no discrimination against any individual or group, regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, political or financial status, or similar. Our weekly topics are carefully crafted to suit with our unique cohort of students, their experiences, and their personal contexts as 'Young Mancunians.' We recognize the importance of tailoring our curriculum to ensure relevance and engagement.
At the beginning of each year, we revisit the concept of democracy and voting. This serves as a foundational pillar for our students, providing repeated opportunities to develop a keen awareness and understanding of democracy, government, and the legislative process. Through interactive discussions, role-plays, and real-world examples, our students learn about the significance of their voice, the importance of participation, and not only how to vote but also why it matters.
